Mindfulness is quite the buzzword these days, yet most of us would probably be hard-pressed to describe what mindfulness actually is. And what it is not. The practice is an old one, dating back centuries, and researchers at UW-Madison are hoping some sound, evidence-based science will lend it more Western credibility and help people improve their wellbeing.
Mindfulness is not hard, in theory. It’s about learning how to focus on the here and now, the present moment, and being aware and in tune with your body and your emotions. It’s so easy, even a 5th grader can do it. (Be forewarned: This video may make you a little misty).
